The extensive menu, featuring home-cooked dishes, earns high marks, especially the black pudding stack and Sunday roasts, which are a must-try. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff who genuinely make dining here enjoyable. Some patrons express concerns about limited availability on certain days, particularly Mondays when the kitchen may close earlier. Although the pub is dog-friendly, a few visitors mention challenges with seating during peak hours, particularly for those with larger dogs. A handful of reviews indicate that the menu, while varied, could benefit from more vegan and vegetarian options to cater to a wider audience. Occasionally, the atmosphere can become quite bustling, which may not appeal to those seeking a quieter dining experience. Finally, while prices are considered reasonable, some feel that select dishes could be more competitively priced.
A fabulous stop on the Sandstone trail. There was Sunday lunch with a choice of three meats and choice of puddings. The pub is really cosy and friendly. A log fire even in June. It's children and dog friendly with a big beer garden, darts, board games and a pool table. As an example of how nice they are, I was even given a free beer as it was Father's Day! The prices are very reasonable.
We enjoyed a lovely meal here Saturday afternoon. We had black pudding stack and halloumi fries for starters both where perfect. We had pie of the day and vegan burger for mains again both absolutely stunning very tasty and very well presented. We where served by owner and her daughter Lilly who where very friendly and really helpful. We definitely recommend this pub.

Trish opened the pub for food for us after our walk around the sandstone trail yesterday. We rang in advance not realising they’re normally closed on a Monday - she’s happy to open for a group if she knows in advance so worth giving them a ring if your planning on going in a group. The place is lovely and clean - the staff are all friendly and the food was absolutely delicious couldn’t recommend enough! 10/10

Stopped for Sunday dinner and were so glad we did. This pub is filled with character, made all the more cosy with the log fire. The owner was very welcoming and the dinner was lovely (amazing value for money) We will 100% make this our regular for Sunday dinner.
On our way home after a day out, was looking for somewhere to eat, pulled in here as we passed, glad we did, friendly staff and good food, you know it's going to be good when you have to wait as its being freshly cooked. Had the fish and chips, light crunchy batter.
